A damp start to Bonfire / Poppy weekend was met on Saturday morning when we hosted Faringdon in our last development game of the pre-Christmas matches. 11 of the 14-strong squad braved the elements to put in an excellent performance, all of them working together to battle hard, rotating roles throughout the entire morning. Despite being behind in both games, the team showed courage to battle back, continuing to support each other in their efforts to eventually come through with big smiles all round. Highlights included: - brave goalkeeping from all 4 who wore the green jersey (Max, Ed S, Malachy, George D) in dire weather conditions - battling defence work by Matthew & Oscar P, never missing a tackle - Oscar M's 1st goal for the Tigers - George J-S's long range left foot goal catching out Faringdon's otherwise occupied goalkeeper - Edward P convincing the manager that he is not a defender by going forward at every opportunity - and scoring to prove the point - James and his weaving runs despite the heavy mud - Jack's long range passing setting up many chances for the team And finally: - the boys who thought their morning was over, but came on for injured team-mates whilst still munching on a well earned bacon rolls !!!! The regular end-of-match Tiger chant seeemed the loudest so far this year!!!.
